Artist Resources

Artist Resources is a page dedicated to create resources for the “struggling” artist. There are ways to break through the “struggle”. In today society a college degree is required in order to be successful. What is “Success”? That definition is different to many. In my views and experience “Happiness” is the equivalent of success. So if making a six figure income makes you happy then so be it, but if creating art also makes you happy then please pursue it. The constant struggle to obtain exposure, jobs, and resources can be difficult for an artist. This is why I’m constantly networking, researching, and seeking opportunities and resources that promotes growth as an artist.

“All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. However, a path without a heart is never enjoyable. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy—it does not make a warrior work at liking it; it makes for a joyful journey; as long as a man follows it, he is one with it.”
 -Carlos Castaneda

My beliefs are surviving as a full time artist is possible. With hard work, a great network, and unlimited resources you have a great chance. In the scriptures in the bible it says that Faith without works is dead. I agree with this wholeheartedly. It’s the same concept with being talented or gifted. You think that if Beyonce Knowles didn’t continue singing, dancing or performing do you think that she’ll be where she is today? Being talented is nothing without work or some form of action.

You cannot progress forward if you’re in a realm of being comfortable. For example, I was given a project to do a portrait painting for a client’s friend. My client commissioned me to do a picture of his girlfriend, and his friend adored it and wanted a picture for a gift. I accepted the job of course with no hesitation until he asked me to provide a sketch of the picture first. Now, I was kind of offended because my client’s friend (We’ll call him Joe) seen my work. Now was I offended or just feeling a bit uncomfortable? The client is always right…Right? Well instead of sending him a sketch of the drawing I sent him progression images of the painting that worked even better. Stepping out of your comfort zone works every time.

Within this page there will be resources and organizations that will assist in our endeavors. I hope that these resources are useful to you.
